Transportation Data Lunch & Learn – Summer 2024

The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has partnered with the State University of New York Polytechnic Institute (SUNY Poly) to offer valuable professional experience to students. Specifically, students have the opportunity to gain practical insights by working in the Fleet Division of NYSDOT. Throughout this partnership with SUNY Poly, NYSDOT is hoping to provide continuous support for transportation-related educational initiatives with the help of incentives such as professional development hours (PDHs).

NYSDOT aims to support transportation-related educational initiatives. As part of this effort, SUNY Poly will conduct three courses during Summer 2024. These courses focus on transportation data, covering both introduction and application. Attendees who complete these courses will be eligible to receive one PDH per course, with a maximum of three PDHs. This is particularly beneficial for engineers certified by the New York State engineering licensing board, as they are required to complete 36 hours of continuous learning annually. SUNY Poly is an authorized provider of continuing education for professional engineers, so all PDHs that are earned will be recognized by the New York State Education Department (NYSED). This ensures that attendees receive recognition for their participation and learning.

The courses, known as "Lunch and Learns," target transportation engineers, transportation engineering faculty, and engineering students interested in transportation across New York State. These courses will be excellent opportunities for knowledge sharing.
